Keep Grand Terrace Beautiful Volunteer Community Cleanup EventGRAND TERRACE – The City of Grand Terrace will co-host a special Keep Grand Terrace Beautiful Volunteer Community Cleanup event with the Foundation of Grand Terrace, on Saturday, April 13th, 2019, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., beginning at 22441 Barton Road. Volunteers will have a variety of opportunities to pitch in and help keep Grand Terrace beautiful by picking up trash, picking fruit, re-painting retaining walls, as well as planting new trees and plants in the community. Children are welcome to volunteer with an accompanying adult. Residents are invited to join in the festivities of spring by signing up to volunteer, visiting Fitness Park to learn more about pollinating plants, at 10:30 a.m., or by attending a ladybug picnic which includes lunch and the release of 36,000 ladybugs, starting at 11:00 a.m.

The future Grocery Outlet Parking parking lot (22441 Barton Road), on the corner of Barton and Mount Vernon, will serve as home base for volunteer check-ins, at 8 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be served as volunteers receive their assigned stations for the day. The City shuttle will help transport volunteers to their stations. As in years past, teams of community volunteers will disperse around the City for trash collection. This year, another group of volunteers will be assigned to re-paint sections of wall around the City in need of fresh paint. Volunteers will also be sent to Grand Terrace Road to pick oranges across the street from the Grand Terrace Senior Center. School-aged children will be assigned to Fitness Park to practice their gardening skills and to gain a deeper knowledge of plants, as they fill out the park landscaping with new plants with the help of expert visiting gardeners. Additional volunteers will be assigned to plant trees along Mount Vernon Avenue and Main Street. All volunteers will convene at Fitness Park at the end of the day for lunch and a grand release of 36,000 ladybugs.

Also available to residents on the day of the event is free mulch and compost. Mulch and compost, provided by Burrtec Waste Industries, will be available by pickup only, at the southwest corner of Canal and Mount Vernon. The City encourages all residents to get involved this year by volunteering in the community and by improving the appearance of their own yards this spring.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up in advance by dialing 909-800-5699. For more information, visit TinyURL.com/BeautifulGT.
